We're into our 5th year with this fridge and it's given us nothing but problems (previous Frigidaire lasted 12 years problem free). Don't know if it's indicative of all KitchenAid Fridge's but ours started falling apart at the 3 year mark. Drawer faces broke off from typical opening of drawers (that were neither heavy nor overfilled). Had crazy glued them back on but still keep falling apart. Hard to clean too as food particles get trapped between the overlapping flimsy plastic. Ice maker motor just stopped dispensing ice and we developed a crack between the inside fridge facing the freezer causing constant water leakage and ice to build up on the left side of our fridge that needs constant mopping up. Would never buy a a Kitchenaid again.

Some features great some not.

Features I like is sabbath mode, no drip pan, only available model in stainless steel, however does not match ovens. Ice storage is horrible to remove. Heavy and clumsy too much for a home. Alarm went on after one minute electrical interruption. Didn't need that and have to reset wow not helpful. Led lights are too hard on Senior eyes. I use sabbath mode otherwise would have to have some bulbs removed. Storage bens great but I had temperature control ones in my last kitchen aid. Shelf in freezer not deep enough the one at neck level. Have no idea what filter is about? You need video or test kitchen so we can learn about it. I guess store sales use you tube?

Ability to adjust height and tilt during install made the unit fit perfectly into the open space better than the GE unit it replaced. Digital display on the dispenser provides useful info including amount of fluid dispensed by the oz. Great lighting throughout. Came with an additional water filter cartridge. Stores large volume of ice. Easy to clean. Drawer clear view faces are handy for seeing contents and the slide systems are smooth and quiet. Quiet unit. Steel face was a little tough to clean until I found the correct product to use.

Replacing GE built in refrigerator after it failed within weeks of moving into a new home. Few choices for this size refrigerator with a water/ice dispenser in the door. The similar size Kitchen Aid built in carries a better customer rating and has unique features for slightly higher price. The kitchen Aid unit installs into the same space with a better fit and look. Our New Replacement

We finally got our new Kitchen Aid 42" Built-in Side by Side Refrigerator delivered and couldn't be more excited. This is a replacement for a similar Dacor, which has been nothing but a money pit for the last several years. We got a total of 10 years use out of it with many repairs. Our new fridge is extremely well designed and seems much more spacious than the Dacor. It's very user friendly, quiet and looks great! I highly recommend Kitchen Aid based on our experience so far.

A nice update to my old refrigerator.

I bought this to replace a 14 year old model of the same refrigerator that decided to quit and there were no replacement parts! So far this is a slight improvement over the older model. The LED lights give off a glare, and they don't seem to light the interior equally. It does seem to have more space, but not sure it is bigger. It runs quietly and I like the new handles...they keep people from leaving so many prints on the surface of the refrigerator. I found it quite an expensive item, but had no options as this is a built in model...therefore the 4 out of 5 stars. It is really quite similar to my 14 year old refrigerator.

I didn't like this fridge because on top of the fact that you lose inside space due to the fact that it is a shallow built in, the lights inside get in the way and take up even more room. Add to that the fact that it had to be repaired two times in nine years and I think there could be a better brand out there, like Samsung or something like that.

I bought this a few weeks ago. Before this, I had used the Kitchenaid Built-in freezer about 18 years without any big problem. So, I got the Kitchenaid freezer again, very expensive but trustful. But this model is making noise - Clunk Clunk Bang Bang, whenever I get the water. Yesterday, a serviceman came and said "It's normal. The Kitchenaid Co made it like that.". Unbelievable. I am very sensitive to noise. How can I live with this freezer more then 15 years together?? If I knew this problem, I didn't buy this freezer.

This is a very expensive refrigerator. For the price one would assume that the water and ice maker would be pretty quiet. Sadly, you can hear the water refilling the ice tray all the way to our bedroom. We had the service people out and they said the noise was "normal".

We have had our Kitchen Aid side by side 42" fridge freezer for 9 years now and for the past 6 years we have had nothing but trouble with the ice and water dispense. Have spent over $1,500 to date fixing the issues and now dealing with a leaky part that has ruined the basement ceiling. No idea what that is going to cost. Was told by a parts department that I needed a new freezer door that was no longer available. I am now emailing someone at whirlpool. Ahh so frustrated. I have no problems paying for general wear and tear but for the price of the appliance and the cost of repairs I could have had a few new fridges/freezers.

We made the right purchase.

We renovated our entire kitchen from the ground up. We went with Bosch for an induction top and double wall oven but when it came to the fridge, this 42" model looked like it would meet our needs. We are so glad we chose this Kitchenaid refrigerator. It's a clean, beautiful design. It works as advertised and the space is fantastic. We originally planned for a 36" counter depth fridge but for a family of four, those are tiny inside. We changed up the design and upgraded once seeing this model at the store.

Nothing is Perfect but this fridge is close...

I've had this fridge for a month. While built ins are insanely more expensive than regular refrigerators, they do look better in high end kitchens. This Kitchenaid model was actually quite reasonable compared to it's peers in the marketplace and one of the reasons it is the preferred built in for high end homes in the Houston area. Other reasons I chose it include the great Layout and Design, the LED lighting, and the very large and well designed Ice Maker system. My only issue, and it's a minor one, is that the container at the top of the door needs a lip to keep the butter inside when opening it's swing up door/cover. Other than that, I'd give it a five star and recommend it to friends.

It's Like Opening The Keys to The City!

My 18 year old builder's depth, side-by-side died a loud, painful death, and with very specific measurements, I was limited to 2 brands. Once my wonderful Builder's Appliance store came to measure officially, this was the only one that fit. Now that I've had it a month, every time I open it, with its beautiful lighting, superior designed shelving, quiet operation, and incredible ice production, I am so happy that this WAS "the one!" I look inside, and feel as though I have entered someone else's refrigerator. There is so much space, that my food left two empty shelves! Not only that, it looks so regal in the lighting! I almost don't want to touch it! It's a work of art! Simply beautiful! I love the separate paddles for water and ice, and I can finally slant a tall cup, and fill it, and see how many ounces I'm getting. I could go on, but let's leave something for your brochure!

17 years and going strong

We have the 42" Superba bought in 2000, and it has worked well for us. We had one repair that was covered by the (generous) warranty, and the refrigerator has worked well. We replaced a slide out drawer whose track wheel broke off but otherwise all is fine. We will definitely consider another KitchenAid when the time comes to replace our unit.

I replaced a 21 year old comparable built-in KitchenAid with this model and am disappointed in some of the changes. The LED lighting in the new model is fabulous! I think the shelving on the freezer side is an improvement and like it a lot, but not on the refrigerator side. The smaller open bins on the door need to be an inch deeper to be able to fit two rows of products like my old model did. My old model also had lift up lids on the crisper drawers for convenient grabbing of a single item (so you didn't have to pull the drawer out) and that's been eliminated. I miss that feature, but the trade-off is that the drawers probably hold more. But I'm really having a problem with the drop down utility compartment (what we used to call the butter compartment) on the door. It's very poorly designed and is difficult to grab onto to get it open--yet, strangely, it sometimes opens all by itself when we pull open the refrigerator door and sticks of butter or cream cheese fall out onto the floor! Really??? This needs to be addressed by KitchenAid and these bins should be replaced! When I've spent almost $10,000 on a refrigerator, I don't expect to have such a ridiculous problem. I'm about to resort to taping it shut, which I'm sure will make guests question whether they should buy a KitchenAid appliance. Step up, KitchenAid, and figure this out. I would recommend this refrigerator to a friend if this problem was fixed, but not until then.

Sleek and beautiful

We have had our new Kitchen Aid refrigerator for a little over a month and I love it. The lighting inside is very bright and the shelves are glass and easy to clean . The ice maker is perfect and I don't miss my old Kitchen Aid as much as I thought I would.

Beautiful Inside and out

We have only had our new frig for a short time, but so far we are thrilled. Love the ice and water in the door with the auto light feature. A very handsome unit with tons of storage room.
